Guest Lectures on “Protection of Trade Dress - EU & International Position” and “European Patent Procedural & Substantive Issues”, Dr. Axel Nordemann and Dr. Markus Engelhard, internationally well known Attorneys at Law from the global IP firm of Boehmert & Boehmert enlightened the well-attended audience on the above-mentioned subject.

Guest lecture on Small & Medium Enterprises and Intellectual Property
Dr. Guriqbal Singh Jaiya, Director, SMEs Division, WIPO, Geneva took a special session on small & medium enterprises and intellectual property. He spoke extensively about IP leverage and its role in merchandising. He also spoke about the importance of SMEs to developing economies and the absolute necessity of protection of IP and its management for small and medium business enterprises. He asserted that good ideas and their proper protection was essential to the success of SMEs and they must be encouraged to obtain protection under IP and properly guided with a view of integrating their skills and technology which are unique and which help them in establishing their business

Guest Lecture
The panel of guest lecturers consisted of Ms. Kanchan Pamnani, an advocate and solicitor with over 10 years of work experience as legal advisor to individuals and corporates, she has an extensive knowledge of property, inheritance, civil and company laws. Her lecture topic was "Legal Entities"

The second guest lecturer for the day was Mr. Rajiv P. Patel. He is a partner in the Intellectual property Group at Fenwick & West LLP, U.S. Mr. Patel's is a member of the State Bar of California and registered in the U.S. His practice includes patent portfolio development and management, patent enforcement, and patent and high technology transactions. His practice also includes intellectual property (“IP”) audits and strategies to help companies identify, evaluate and protect key intellectual assets. He spoke on “Business method Patents”.
